About Us

Mindful Edge Interactive

Mindful Edge™ Interactive is a treasured program of Mindfulness Everyday™, a registered Canadian charity, # 83693 3507 RR0001.

The intention of the Mindful Edge™ program is to provide stress management and life strategies for youth using consistent and ongoing mindfulness-based practices.

The Mindful Edge™ program aims to cultivate positive mental health and wellness benefits while teaching stress management, self-care, resilience, concentration, executive functioning, and positive habits of the mind. Mindful Edge™ is the outcome of over a decade worth of in-person programming delivered in high schools in Toronto, Ontario. Mindfulness Everyday has been delivering Mindfulness in Education since 2009.

We promote mindfulness practices to enhance positive mental and physical health and well-being, compassionate action and resilience by providing stress reduction training and life skills for young people, educators, professional support staff, parents, organizations and members of the community.

Our programs support learning and wellbeing, but they are not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
Please seek professional support if you need it.

The Mission

To provide Mindfulness training in community, educational and organizational settings, to support well-being and compassionate action for ourselves, for others and our environment. Our focus is the implementation of youth programming so that our youth have the skills and tools to meet the challenges of life with wisdom and insight.

Inclusivity

The Mindful Edge™ program includes a genuine understanding of many differences including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, age, body size and shape, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, physical or mental health and physical or cognitive abilities. We acknowledge and honour the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals and we are committed to the elimination of discrimination in all its forms.

Recognzing the Wisdom Tradition of Mindfulness

Honouring the Ancient Roots of Yoga and Mindfulness

Exploring the Rich Heritage

Yoga and mindfulness have deep roots in the sacred traditions of ancient India.
Secular Approach: We approach these practices in a secular manner, not tied to any specific religion.

Respect for the Wisdom

We respect the profound wisdom that has been passed down through generations.
Historical Significance: We recognize and appreciate the historical importance of yoga and mindfulness.

Gratitude to Our Teachers

A big thank you to the teachers who paved the way for us in these practices.
Even though we teach a secular approach to mindfulness and yoga, we wish to appreciate  the ancient wisdom tradition that informs our teaching and our practice and the teachers who have shared their wisdom.

Research and History of The Mindful Edge Program

The Mindful Edge™ program is designed to offer strategies for positive mental health promotion to students through long-term skill building. These skills help youth manage stress in a healthy manner and better ready themselves for life.

In June 2011, the Mindful Edge™ program and The Sterling Institute collaborated in the completion of an action research project “Measuring the Effectiveness of The Mindful Edge Program”. The growing field of research that supports the value of mindfulness in education was of interest to both organizations. We worked together collecting data assessing the effectiveness of the program in an 8-week pilot after-school program for 20 students and 5 teachers. The pilot was deemed so effective that it became part of the grade 11 leadership program at R.H.King Academy in Scarborough, Ontario for over a decade, serving over 2,400 youth. The program was expanded to other Toronto schools and grades.

From 2011 to 2013, The Mindful Edge program facilitated an 8-week mindfulness training program for teens while collecting data in both the TDSB and YRDSB. A Canadian Vision assisted in the development and procurement of required measurement tools and completed all written reports. Together, the following research questions were investigated:
Does the Mindful Edge program improve students’ abilities to recognize and identify symptoms of stress? If so, are they adopting more effective strategies when trying to reduce the unhealthy effects of stress?

The Team

Our 2026 creative team was outstanding. Abel adapted Finn’s design into a functioning interactive website. Megan developed Activity cards for the Curriculum Guide. Antony, our videographer, recorded an extensive library of videos and audios of mindfulness activites and practices that have been uploaded to YouTube, with title graphics created by Fiona, who also created a comprehensive package of beautifully designed and organized content. The team also assisted in the ceation of the videos and audios, participating in the activities being filmed and using their voices for the audio recordings. Each member of the team assisted in the creation of age-appropriate, accessible, graphically interesting content and contributed to the project in a meaningful way.

The Team

Our creative team was impressive. Finn was responsible for the graphic development and design of the website, which Hameza coded. Michelle, assisted by Noah, began the compilation of a Mindful Edge Teacher Manual for educators who would like to teach teens in a classroom or community setting with full support of guided practices, lesson plans, interactive PowerPoints and the website for youth.
Megan created blog posts, revised copy for the website, and created mindfulness practice cards for use in teaching and on the website. Noah researched mindfulness resources for the creation of a Resources in Education page on our website here: https://mindfulnesseveryday.org/resources-education. Each member of the team assisted in the creation of age-appropriate, accessible, graphically interesting content and contributed to the project in a meaningful way. It was a pleasure to work with each member of the team.
